Alivira SEQUZENE RTU is an anti-haemoprotozoal injection combining Diminazene Aceturate (to kill blood parasites) and Phenazone (an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever).

INDICATIONS

• Babesiosis (Piroplasmosis): Tick-borne protozoal infections caused by Babesia species, including Babesia bovis, B. bigemina (cattle), B. canis (dogs), and B. equi (horses).
• Trypanosomiasis (Surra / Nagana): Infections caused by Trypanosoma parasites (such as T. brucei, T. vivax, T. congolense, and T. evansi).
• Theileriosis: Caused by Theileria annulata.
• Mixed Haemoprotozoan Infections: When animals present with overlapping protozoal blood pathogens.
• Pyrexia and Inflammation: Because the formula contains Phenazone, it provides rapid relief from the fever, pain, and inflammation associated with these heavy blood-parasite loads.

ADMINISTRATION

• Route: Typically administered by deep intramuscular (IM) injection.
• General Dosage: The standard dosage is generally 3.5 mg of active Diminazene per kg of body weight (often formulated as 1 ml per 20 kg body weight). However, this may be doubled for tenacious parasites like T. evansi or Theileria annulata.
• Dosage for Babesiosis & Pyrexia: 3.5 mg per kg of body weight.
• Dosage for Trypanosomiasis: 7 mg per kg of body weight.
• Withdrawal Periods: Because of the active drug, there is a withdrawal period required for meat and milk consumption (e.g., meat is typically 20 to 21 days, and milk is about 3 days).
