Alivira Cefamilk-180 Mono (cephalexin monohydrate) is an injectable veterinary antibiotic indicated for the broad-spectrum antibacterial treatment of cattle, dogs, and cats.
INDICATIONS
- Cattle: Used to treat general bacterial infections (such as respiratory infections and soft-tissue infections).
- Dogs and Cats: Used to combat a wide range of susceptible bacterial infections.
ADMINISTRATION
- Cattle: Administered only via intramuscular (IM) injection.
- Cats & Dogs: Administered via either intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (SC) injection.
Dosage and Duration
The injection is administered once a day, with the duration of treatment, often lasting several consecutive days, determined by a veterinarian. Dosage is based on the weight of the animal.
Instructions
- Shake Well: The vial must be shaken thoroughly before use to ensure the suspension is completely uniform.
- Use a Dry Needle: The cephalexin in this formula will break down (hydrolyze) if it comes into contact with water. You must use a completely dry syringe and needle to extract and inject the medicine.
- Inject and Massage: Gently massage the injection site immediately after administering the dose to help distribute the medication and reduce local tissue irritation.
Withdrawal Periods (For Cattle)
- Meat: Cattle must not be slaughtered for human consumption within a specified number of days following the last treatment.
- Milk: There is a 0-day withdrawal period for milk, meaning milk from lactating cows can be used during treatment.
