Alivira PENSTREP 20/20 (procaine benzylpenicillin & dihydrostreptomycin) is a broad-spectrum, synergistic injectable antimicrobial. It is strictly indicated for the treatment of systemic, localized, and secondary bacterial infections.

INDICATIONS

  • Respiratory Infections: Bronchopneumonia, shipping fever, and upper respiratory infections
  • Urogenital & Reproductive Infections: Metritis, endometritis, cystitis, nephritis, and pyelonephritis
  • Mammary Infections: Mastitis
  • Gastrointestinal Infections: Enteritis and alimentary tract infections
  • Skin & Wound Infections: Infected wounds, foot rot (panaritium), and necrobacillosis
  • Systemic & Specific Diseases: Strangles in horses, erysipelas in pigs, polyarthritis (joint-ill/navel-ill in newborns), peritonitis, septicemia, and anthrax.

ADMINISTRATION

    • Preparation: Shake the vial thoroughly before use to properly resuspend the contents.
    • Route:Administer via intramuscular (IM) injection. In cattle, horses, sheep, and pigs, always use deep IM. In dogs and cats, it can be given either intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
    • Intravenous (IV) Warning: Never give this product intravenously. Injecting it into a vein can cause severe anaphylactic shock or other fatal reactions.

Dosage by Species
    • Cattle and Horses:1 mL per 20 kg to 25 kg of body weight (typically repeated once daily for up to 3 days).
    • Pigs, Sheep, and Goats: 1 mL per 10 kg to 25 kg of body weight (repeated daily for up to 3 days).
    • Dogs and Cats: 0.5 mL per 5 kg of body weight, or 1 mL per 10 kg, depending on the specific product formulation (repeated for 3–5 days).

Site Injection Limits
To avoid irritation or tissue damage, never exceed the maximum volume at a single injection site. If the total required dose is larger than these limits, split the dose across multiple sites:
  • Cattle: Maximum of 15-20 mL per site
  • Horses: Maximum of 15 mL per site
  • Swine: Maximum of 10 mL per site
  • Sheep and Goats: Maximum of 3–5 mL per site
