Alivira VETIQ TRUPROFEN (carprofen) is an anti-inflammatory drug indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, and the control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs.
INDICATIONS
TRUPROFEN is strictly indicated for use in dogs only for the following conditions:
- Osteoarthritis: For managing the chronic joint pain, swelling, and decreased mobility caused by joint degeneration and arthritis.
- Soft Tissue Postoperative Pain: For controlling pain and inflammation following soft tissue surgeries, such as spaying, neutering, or mass removals.
- Orthopedic Postoperative Pain: For managing acute pain after bone, joint, or ligament surgeries.
ADMINISTRATION
- Dosage Amount: The standard daily dosage is 2 mg/lb (4.4 mg/kg) of body weight. This can be given as a single dose once daily, or divided into two doses of 1 mg/lb given every 12 hours.
- With Food: Giving the medication with food is recommended to help reduce the risk of gastrointestinal upset.
- Post-Operative Use: For surgical pain control, your veterinarian may have you administer the tablet about 2 hours before the procedure.
- Species Specificity: Carprofen is approved only for dogs. It must never be given to cats.
