Alivira’s FASMIN (oxyclozanide & levamisole) is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic medication used to treat and control internal worm infestations in livestock and companion animals.
INDICATIONS
- Liver Fluke Infestations (Fascioliasis)
- Amphistomiasis (infestations of conical flukes/stomach flukes)
- Gastrointestinal Nematodes (intestinal roundworms)
- Lungworm Infestations
- Nasal Schistosomiasis
- Livestock: Cattle, buffaloes, sheep, and goats
- Pets: Dogs, cats, and horses (depending on the specific formulation)
ADMINISTRATION
- Method: Given directly by mouth to larger livestock.
- Tools: Administered by hand or by using a balling gun (a device used to safely place large pills into the back of an animal’s throat).
- Execution: Ensure the bolus is pushed past the base of the tongue so the animal cannot spit it back out, then encourage swallowing.
Critical Safety Guidelines
- Dosing: Dosage must be precisely calculated by a veterinarian based on the animal’s exact body weight and species to avoid toxicity.
- Withdrawal Period: Because this is a medication for livestock, you must strictly observe the mandatory meat and milk withdrawal periods (often up to 28 days for meat) before the animal’s products can safely enter the food supply.
