Alivira CALJECT (calcium borogluconate) is an injectable mineral solution indicated for the prevention and treatment of milk fever (parturient paresis), and associated metabolic disorders in livestock.

INDICATIONS

• Metabolic & Deficiency Diseases: Primarily used for milk fever, pregnancy toxemia, and acute metabolic imbalances occurring around the time of calving or lambing.
• Tetany Syndromes: Treats various forms of tetany caused by mineral depletion, including grass tetany, lactation tetany in mares, transport (transit) tetany in pregnant cows or sheep, and barn tetany.
• Neuromuscular Conditions: Indicated for paresis (weakness), paraplegia (paralysis), and postoperative tetany.
• Skeletal & Growth Disorders: Used to treat and prevent rickets, osteomalacia (soft bones), bone/joint defects, and to accelerate the healing process of bone fractures in young or developing animals.
• Vascular & Bleeding Support: Acts as a supportive therapy to manage internal bleeding, lacerations, nosebleeds (epistaxis), and postpartum hemoglobinuria in cattle.
• Allergic Reactions & Shock: Administered to counter anaphylactic shock, urticaria (hives), laminitis (founder) in horses, serum sickness, and allergic mammary edema.
• Toxin Neutralization Support: Serves as a supportive treatment during poisonings caused by moldy or rotten feed, snake/insect bites, or chemical toxicities (like organic phosphorus compounds.

ADMINISTRATION

• Intravenous (IV) Route: Used for severe cases or animals that are unable to stand. The solution must be administered slowly to prevent cardiac arrhythmias or fatal collapse. It is highly recommended to warm the solution to body temperature prior to injection.
• Subcutaneous (SC) Route: Often used in less critical cases to provide a more gradual release of calcium into the bloodstream. To prevent tissue irritation or localized swelling, the dose should be divided across multiple injection sites.
• Dosage: Dosing depends heavily on the animal’s weight, species, and the specific formulation provided by the manufacturer.
