ALVIMISOLE Levamisole Powder

Alivira ALVIMISOLE powder (levamisole) is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic (dewormer) indicated for nematode parasite eradication and immune stimulation in poultry and livestock.

Alivira ALVIMISOLE powder (levamisole) is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic (dewormer) and immunomodulator indicated for nematode parasite eradication and immune stimulation in poultry and livestock.

INDICATIONS

1. Treatment and Control of Nematode Infections
ALVIMISOLE is used for the prophylaxis and treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory roundworms (nematodes). It works by paralyzing the muscular system of the worms, allowing them to be expelled from the animal’s body.
Specific targeted parasites include:
    • Gastrointestinal Worms: Effective against species such as Ascaridia galli (large roundworms), Heterakis gallinarum (cecal worms), and Capillaria obsignata (threadworms) in poultry, as well as roundworms in livestock.
    • Respiratory Worms: Indicated for the control of lungworms like Syngamus trachea (gapeworms).
    • Eye Worms: Can be administered to eliminate fowl eye worm (Oxyspirura mansoni).

2. Immunomodulation and Stimulation
Beyond its anti-parasitic properties, ALVIMISOLE acts as a potent immune stimulant. It assists the animal’s body by modifying and improving the activity of T-lymphocytes and phagocytes.

ADMINISTRATION

ALVIMISOLE Levamisole Powder is administered orally, typically by dissolving the water-soluble powder into drinking water or preparing it as an oral drench.
  • Oral Drenching (Cattle & Sheep): The powder is dissolved in a specific volume of clean water to create a liquid drench. It is then administered directly into the animal’s mouth using a standard drench syringe or an automatic drenching gun.
  • Medicated Drinking Water (Poultry & Swine): For large flocks or herds, the powder is mixed thoroughly into their primary drinking water source.
  • Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Swine: Dosage is calculated based on body weight.
  • Poultry: Dosage is based on body weight or mixed at a specific ratio.
  • Calculate by Weight: Always calculate the dosage based on the current, accurate weight of the animals to avoid underdosing (which causes parasite resistance) or overdosing (which causes toxicity).
  • Restrict Alternative Water: When treating poultry or swine via drinking water, remove all other water sources so the animals only drink the medicated water.
  • Use Fresh Mixtures: Medicated water or oral drench solutions should be prepared fresh and consumed within the timeframe noted on the packet (usually within 12 hours).
  • Observe Withdrawal Periods: Do not slaughter animals for meat or harvest eggs/milk for human consumption until the specific withdrawal period listed on your product packaging has passed.
