Alivira IMOZAN (imidocarb) is an injectable solution indicated for the treatment and prevention of tick-borne parasitic infections affecting the red blood cells, specifically Babesiosis (piroplasmosis), and Anaplasmosis.
INDICATIONS
Cattle
- Babesiosis Treatment & Prevention: Controls infections caused by protozoan parasites including Babesia argentina, Babesia bigemina, Babesia bovis, and Babesia divergens.
- Anaplasmosis Treatment & Prevention: Eradicates tick-borne bacterial infections caused by Anaplasma marginale (gallsickness).
Canines (Dogs)
- Babesiosis Treatment & Prevention: Highly effective against canine tick fever caused by Babesia canis, Babesia gibsoni, and Babesia vogeli.
Equines (Horses, Donkeys, Mules)
- Babesiosis Treatment & Prevention: Indicated for managing equine piroplasmosis caused by Babesia equi (now classified as Theileria equi) and Babesia caballi.
ADMINISTRATION
- Dosage per kg of body weight varies based on the species, weight of the animal, and the clinical condition.
- Route of Administration: It is typically administered via subcutaneous (S/C) or intramuscular (I/M) injection. Never inject it intravenously (I/V), as this can cause acute toxic shock.
- Side Effects: Mild, temporary cholinergic symptoms (like increased salivation, tearing, or muscle tremors) may occur.
- Withdrawal Periods: For livestock destined for human food consumption, strict milk and meat withdrawal timelines must be respected.
